Description

The Mercury 1m power lead connects a UK mains socket to a figure-8 (IEC C7) appliance socket using a 2-core black cable rated to 2.5A and 575W. The UK end carries a BS 1363 3-pin plug with a 3A fuse, while the appliance end terminates in a standard figure-8 connector that fits non-earthed devices such as laptop power supplies, radios, DVD players and some audio equipment.

Designed for desktop and close-to-socket installations where a shorter run prevents cable pooling behind desks, shelves and AV racks. The 1m length suits setups where the appliance sits within arm's reach of the wall socket, such as bedside radios, desk-mounted speakers, or kitchen countertop electronics. The cable is BSI-compliant and uses 2 x 0.75mm² conductors, sufficient for the 2.5A rating but not suitable for high-draw appliances above 575W.

The black PVC jacket blends into most installation environments and the cable remains flexible enough to route around furniture edges and through cable management channels. The figure-8 socket is polarised, so it only fits one way into the appliance, preventing reversed connection. At 126g the lead is light enough to be supported by the weight of the appliance without pulling the plug from the socket.

No. The figure-8 connector is a 2-pin unearthed design used only for double-insulated appliances that do not require an earth connection. The UK plug end has three pins but only the live and neutral are connected.
