Description

The Marea is a 400mm round semi-flush ceiling light with a natural Spanish alabaster diffuser set inside a brushed brass ring. The integrated 12W 3000K LED sits behind the alabaster, lighting the stone from within so the diffuser itself becomes the light source. At 200mm tall it sits close to the ceiling, leaving most of its visible mass as the alabaster disc framed by the brass band.

The semi-flush profile is built for ceilings of 2.2-2.6m where a hanging pendant would feel too low. It works in bedrooms over a bed, on landings and hallways, in en-suites outside the immediate shower zone, and in living rooms where ceiling clearance rules out a longer drop. The fitting mounts directly to a standard UK ceiling rose and runs on 230V mains, with the LED driver concealed inside the brass housing.

Each alabaster diffuser is cut from a natural block of Spanish alabaster, so the veining, cloudy translucency and tonal shifts vary between individual pieces. When the LED is off the alabaster reads as a soft white disc; when lit, the warmer 3000K colour temperature draws out the cream and honey tones in the stone. The brushed brass frame is finished to a low-sheen satin that pairs the fitting with both warm traditional interiors and cooler contemporary palettes.

Is the Marea suitable for low ceilings?

Yes. The semi-flush design sits 200mm below the ceiling, making it well suited to rooms with ceiling heights of 2.2-2.6m where a pendant on a chain or rod would hang too low. It mounts directly to a standard UK ceiling rose.

Can it be used in a bathroom?

The Marea does not have a stated IP rating in its specification, so it is intended for general indoor use rather than bathroom zones 1 or 2. It can be used outside the immediate shower or bath splash zone in a well-ventilated en-suite, but is not rated for direct moisture exposure.

Is the LED replaceable or dimmable?

The 12W 3000K LED is integrated rather than a replaceable bulb. Dimmer compatibility depends on the dimmer model paired with it; please contact us before installing on a dimmer circuit to confirm suitability.

Will the alabaster look identical to the photograph?

Each diffuser is cut from natural Spanish alabaster, so the veining patterns, cloudiness and warm tonal variation differ between individual pieces. The product photo represents the design accurately, but the exact stone pattern of the fitting you receive will be unique.
