Description
The LYYT 50m multicolour LED rope light is a mains-operated 230V decorative lighting solution with 36 LEDs per metre housed in a flexible 13mm clear plastic tube. The rope light delivers a repeating sequence of red, green, blue and white LEDs along the full 50m length, producing a multicolour effect suitable for festive displays, architectural accent lighting, pathway marking and outdoor event installations. The IP44 rating protects against water splashes from any direction, making the rope suitable for both indoor and sheltered outdoor use when cut ends and connections are sealed correctly.
The rope light is supplied on a reel and can be cut only at marked 2m intervals, allowing installations to be tailored to specific lengths while maintaining electrical safety. Each cut point aligns with the internal wiring so the rope remains functional when fitted with a compatible power lead (sold separately). Power leads are available in static on/off or 8-pattern controller variants, giving control over whether the multicolour sequence stays constant or cycles through different flash and fade patterns. The 60mm minimum bending radius allows the rope to follow curved edges, wrap around columns, outline architectural features and trace signage without kinking the plastic tube.
The LEDs are rated for 100,000 hours of continuous operation at a power consumption of 3.96-4.56W per metre, producing 144-180 lumens per metre. This gives the full 50m rope a total draw of 198-228W at maximum output. The low wattage-to-length ratio makes the rope light a cost-effective option for large-scale installations compared to incandescent rope light, while the long LED lifespan reduces the frequency of replacement in permanent outdoor displays. The multicolour sequence is fixed and determined by the LED layout within the rope — pattern control is introduced via the power lead, not the rope itself.

Frequently Asked
What power lead is needed to operate the rope light?
The rope light requires a compatible LYYT 230V power lead, available in static on/off or 8-pattern controller versions. These are sold separately and connect to the cut or uncut end of the rope to supply mains power.
Can the rope be cut to a custom length?
Yes, but only at the marked 2m intervals along the rope. Cutting between these points will damage the internal wiring and render that section unusable. Each cut point aligns with the LED circuit so the rope remains functional when fitted with a power lead.
Is the rope fully waterproof?
The rope carries an IP44 rating, which protects against water splashes from any direction. This suits sheltered outdoor use such as under eaves, covered patios and pergolas. It is not submersible and cut ends or connection points must be sealed with the appropriate caps or shrink tubing to maintain the IP44 protection.
How is the multicolour sequence controlled?
The multicolour LED sequence is fixed within the rope and cannot be changed. Pattern control is introduced via the power lead — static leads keep the colour sequence constant, while 8-pattern controller leads cycle through different flash, fade and chase effects.
