Description
The LYYT 230V IP44 blue LED rope light is a 50m reel of 13mm clear flexible PVC tubing with 36 blue LEDs per metre running the full length. The rope connects directly to 230V mains via a plug-in power lead (sold separately), eliminating the need for a separate driver or transformer. Each LED is rated for a 100,000-hour lifespan, and the rope consumes 3.96-4.56W per metre depending on load.
Designed for commercial signage, architectural accent lighting, event decoration and seasonal installations, the rope light can be shaped around corners, wrapped along handrails, threaded through fence panels or mounted onto building facades. The 60mm minimum bending radius allows tight curves without kinking the tube. The rope is cuttable only at marked 2m intervals, so installations must be planned in 2m increments to avoid waste. Cut points and end caps must be waterproofed with silicone or heat-shrink to maintain the IP44 rating outdoors.
The IP44 rating protects against splashing water from any direction, making the rope suitable for sheltered outdoor use (under eaves, canopies, covered terraces) and indoor wet areas like pool surrounds or bathroom feature lighting. The blue LEDs produce 144-180 lumens per metre, giving a bright accent rather than functional illumination. The rope is compatible with both static power leads for continuous operation and 8-pattern controller leads for chasing, flashing and fade effects.

Frequently Asked
Does this come with a power lead?
No. The 50m reel requires a separate 230V power lead, available in static or 8-pattern controller versions. The power lead plugs into a standard UK mains socket and terminates in a connector that clips onto the rope light's input end.
Can it be cut to any length?
No. The rope can only be cut at marked intervals every 2 metres. Cutting between the marked points will damage the circuit and leave non-functional sections. Plan your installation in 2m increments to avoid waste.
Is it waterproof for outdoor use?
The rope carries an IP44 rating, which protects against splashing water but not full immersion or direct pressure washing. For outdoor installations, cut points and end caps must be sealed with silicone or heat-shrink to maintain weather resistance. Avoid placing the rope in standing water or areas subject to heavy rain without shelter.
What's the light output like?
The rope produces 144-180 lumens per metre, which is bright enough for accent lighting, signage underlighting and decorative borders but not sufficient for functional task lighting. The blue LEDs are vivid and highly visible in low-light conditions, making them effective for event decoration and architectural highlighting.
