LYYT 12V LED Strip Light Kit 5m - Warm White 3000K IP65

The LYYT 12V LED strip light kit supplies 5 metres of warm white LED tape on a reel, a UK mains-to-12Vdc power adaptor, and the connectors needed to install the strip without soldering or specialist tools. The tape carries 60 SMD2835 LEDs per metre, each emitting 11 lumens at 3000K colour temperature, producing a soft warm white glow suited to residential and hospitality applications where ambient rather than task lighting is needed.

Designed for under-cabinet lighting in kitchens, cove lighting in living rooms, feature lighting behind headboards or mirrors, and accent lighting along shelving or skirting, the strip runs on safe 12Vdc low voltage and draws 4.08W per metre. The IP65 silicone coating protects the LEDs from dust ingress and low-pressure water jets, making the strip suitable for use in kitchens, bathrooms and sheltered outdoor locations such as covered patios or pergolas where direct rain exposure does not occur.

The self-adhesive backing allows the strip to be pressed onto clean, dry, smooth surfaces including painted walls, MDF, melamine and glass without additional fixings. The tape can be cut to length every 50mm along marked cut points, allowing precise tailoring to alcoves, cabinet runs or architectural features. The 130-150° beam angle from each LED provides wide-angle wash light rather than directional spot illumination, smoothing shadows and reducing visible LED hotspots when the strip is positioned behind a diffuser or recessed into a channel.

The included 12V 2000mA power adaptor connects to UK mains via a 1.2m cable and terminates in a DC barrel connector on a further 1.2m lead, giving flexibility in positioning the power supply relative to the strip's start point. The LEDs are rated to 25,000 hours at typical residential duty cycles, equivalent to approximately 10 years of use at 7 hours per day.

Is the strip dimmable?

The LEDs themselves can be dimmed, but the kit does not include a dimmer control. To dim this strip you would need to install a compatible 12V LED dimmer between the power adaptor and the strip. Contact us for dimmer recommendations before purchasing.

Can this be used outdoors?

The IP65 rating protects against dust and low-pressure water jets, making the strip suitable for sheltered outdoor locations such as covered patios, pergolas or eaves where direct rain exposure does not occur. It is not rated for full immersion or prolonged exposure to heavy rain.

How do I cut the strip to length?

The strip can be cut every 50mm along marked cut points using scissors or a craft knife. Cut only at the marked points to avoid damaging the circuit. Once cut, the shorter section requires a new connector or soldering to reconnect to power.

What surfaces can the adhesive backing stick to?

The self-adhesive backing bonds to clean, dry, smooth surfaces including painted walls, MDF, melamine, glass and metal. Textured, porous or dusty surfaces may require additional mechanical fixing or an adhesive promoter spray applied before installation.
