Description

The LYYT 12V Green LED Strip Light is a 5m flexible LED tape with 60 SMD3528 LEDs per metre, producing a vivid green glow at 6 lumens per LED. The kit includes the LED strip on a reel, a UK mains plug with 12V 2000mA power adaptor, DC connector and tape-to-connector cable, providing everything needed for installation without additional components.

Designed for decorative accent lighting in residential and hospitality settings, the strip suits under-cabinet lighting in kitchens, cove lighting around ceilings, shelf and alcove highlighting, and feature wall washing where coloured light is required. The IP65 rating means the strip is protected against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets, making it suitable for bathrooms, kitchens and sheltered outdoor locations such as covered patios or under-eave installations. The strip cannot be submerged or exposed to continuous rain.

The strip can be cut at 5cm intervals along marked cutting points, allowing precise length adjustment to fit the installation space. Each cut section can be reconnected using additional connectors (sold separately) if needed. The self-adhesive backing uses a peel-and-stick 3M-type adhesive that bonds to clean, dry, smooth surfaces including painted walls, metal, glass and sealed wood. Operating at 12V DC low voltage keeps the strip cool to touch and reduces electrical risk compared to mains-voltage alternatives.

At 4.08W per metre, the full 5m reel draws approximately 20W total power from the included adaptor. The 130-150° beam angle from the SMD3528 chips provides wide light distribution suitable for wash lighting rather than spotlighting. The strip weighs 173g for the full 5m reel and measures 8.15mm wide by 2.76mm thick, sitting flush against mounting surfaces once installed.

Can the strip be cut to a shorter length?

Yes. The strip has marked cutting points every 5cm (50mm). Cut only at these points to avoid damaging the circuit. Each cut section loses the connector at the end, so additional connectors are needed to reconnect sections or extend runs.

Is the strip dimmable?

The strip itself can accept dimming if paired with a compatible 12V DC dimmer controller (sold separately). The included power supply does not provide dimming control on its own.

What does IP65 mean for installation?

IP65 means the strip is dust-tight and protected against low-pressure water jets from any direction. It can be used in bathrooms, kitchens and sheltered outdoor areas but cannot be submerged or left exposed to continuous rain. For fully outdoor exposed installations, an IP67 or IP68 rated product is more appropriate.

How is the strip mounted?

The back of the strip has a peel-off self-adhesive backing. Clean and dry the mounting surface thoroughly, peel the backing tape, and press the strip firmly into place. The adhesive bonds best to smooth, non-porous surfaces such as painted plaster, metal, glass or sealed wood.
