Description

The LYYT 12V DC indoor power supply delivers up to 5A continuous output through a 1.2m hard-wired lead terminated with a 5.5 x 2.1mm centre-positive DC plug. The unit accepts 100-240Vac mains input via a detachable UK figure-8 lead, making it suitable for powering 12V LED tape runs, CCTV cameras, access control panels and similar fixed installations requiring regulated DC power.

Designed for permanent indoor installation, the sealed enclosure measures 118 x 50 x 32mm and carries an IP20 rating, meaning it provides basic protection against solid objects larger than 12.5mm but is not moisture-resistant. The 1.2m output lead allows the PSU to be positioned away from the powered device where space or heat dissipation requires it, while the detachable mains lead simplifies cable routing during installation.

The 5A maximum output supports LED tape runs up to 60W total power draw, or multiple lower-power devices wired in parallel to the same DC plug. The centre-positive polarity is standard for most 12V DC equipment, but reverse-polarity equipment will require an adapter or different PSU. At 214g the unit can be cable-tied or velcro-mounted behind furniture, inside AV racks or under worktops without needing mechanical fixing for the PSU itself.

Most 12V LED tape draws between 4.8W and 14.4W per metre depending on LED density, so this PSU can power approximately 4-12 metres of tape on a single run. Always check the specific tape wattage per metre before connecting.

Can it be used outdoors?

No. The IP20 rating means the unit has no moisture protection and must be installed indoors in a dry location. For outdoor 12V DC applications, use an IP65 or IP67 rated power supply.

Is the polarity compatible with all 12V devices?

The PSU outputs centre-positive polarity, which is the standard for most 12V DC equipment including LED tape, CCTV cameras and access control panels. Some audio or vintage equipment uses centre-negative polarity and will require a different PSU or a polarity adapter.
