Description

The LYYT 12V blue LED strip light is a 5m reel of flexible LED tape with 60 SMD3528 LEDs per metre, producing a continuous blue glow across the full length. The kit includes the LED strip, a 12V 2A UK mains power adaptor with 1.2m cable to the adaptor and a further 1.2m from adaptor to the DC connector that plugs into the strip. The IP65 silicone coating on the tape protects the LEDs and PCB from dust and water splashes, making it suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, and sheltered outdoor areas under eaves or canopies.

Designed for accent lighting in bars, gaming rooms, under-cabinet installations, shelving backlighting, and decorative displays, the strip is cuttable at marked 5cm intervals to fit specific lengths without wasting tape. Each cut point has copper contact pads that allow reconnection with soldering or connector accessories (sold separately). The self-adhesive 3M backing tape bonds to smooth, clean surfaces including painted walls, glass, metal and sealed wood, though porous or textured surfaces may require additional mounting clips.

The 12V DC operation keeps the strip safe to handle during installation and reduces heat output compared to mains-voltage lighting. At 4.08W per metre, the full 5m reel draws approximately 20W, giving a total light output of around 600 lumens across the strip. The 130-150° beam angle from each SMD3528 LED produces wide, even coverage when mounted in channels or along edges. The strip is rated for up to 25,000 hours of operation, equivalent to approximately 2.8 years of continuous use or several decades of typical evening-only use.

The silicone coating adds approximately 0.8mm thickness to the strip, giving a cross-section of 8.15 x 2.76mm including the PCB. The 173g weight of the full 5m reel means it stays in place once mounted without sagging or peeling on vertical runs. The blue wavelength is fixed. This is a single-colour strip with no dimming or colour-change capability unless paired with a separate 12V PWM dimmer controller (sold separately).

Can the strip be dimmed?

The strip itself is not dimmable without additional hardware. To dim this strip you need a separate 12V PWM dimmer controller installed between the power supply and the strip. These are sold separately.

Is it safe to use outdoors?

The IP65 rating protects against dust and water splashes, making it suitable for sheltered outdoor areas such as under eaves, in covered patios, or inside garden rooms. It is not submersible and should not be exposed to direct rain or standing water.

What's in the box?

The kit includes a 5m reel of blue LED strip, a 12V 2A UK mains power adaptor, and a DC barrel connector to connect the adaptor to the strip. No additional controllers, dimmers or connectors are included.

Can I reconnect the strip after cutting it?

Yes. Each 5cm cut point has copper contact pads. You can reconnect sections by soldering wires to the pads or by using solder-free connectors designed for 8mm-wide LED strip tape (sold separately).
