Luella Stoneware Plant Pot - Multi

Luella is a small stoneware plant pot that sits up on its own foot, which lifts the body of the pot clear of the shelf and gives a little plant real presence. It measures 14cm across and 11cm tall, a compact size for a windowsill, a desk or a bedside table. The pot is made from 100% stoneware, and a glossy glaze runs down from the rim in streaks and drips, settling into a soft wavy line where the body meets the foot. Below that line the foot has a speckled, mottled finish.

A pot this size suits one small houseplant: a little fern, a trailing succulent, a clutch of spring bulbs or a young cutting. The raised foot makes it a natural choice for a shelf at eye level, a mantelpiece or the middle of a dining table, where the lifted shape lets leaves spill over the rim without hiding the glaze. The base is solid, with no drainage hole, so it works best as a cover pot: set the plant, still in its plastic nursery pot, inside it, then lift it out to water and let it drain before putting it back. It makes a thoughtful housewarming gift for someone who loves plants but has little space.

Stoneware is a dense clay fired at a high temperature, which makes it hard-wearing, and this pot weighs 0.6KG, so it feels solid in the hand. The glaze gives the pot its character, running thickly in places and thinning to a fine speckle in others, with a darker band at the rim and a deeper tone around the foot. The inside is glazed too, with a smooth round well at the centre of the base. Group it with other glazed ceramics, or set it beside plain linen and pale wood so the glaze becomes the focus. The styling props shown are not included.

What material is the Luella plant pot?

It is made from 100% stoneware, a dense, hard-fired clay, with a glossy glaze over both the outside and the inside.

How big is the pot?

It measures 14cm across and 11cm tall, a compact size that suits one small houseplant on a windowsill, desk or shelf.

Does it have a drainage hole?
