Our Lomaltas is an LED flush ceiling light built from two interlinked rings that sit beneath a round base. The rings carry a black finish and a white plastic diffuser that glows softly around each full circle. The base shows a brown wood finish, so the black and brown pairing reads as warm rather than stark. The body combines steel and wood. It measures 58cm long, 35cm wide and 8.5cm high, which keeps it close to the ceiling and leaves plenty of headroom. The light source is integrated LED, rated at 4 x 8W, so there is never a bulb to buy or change. It is rated IP20, which settles where it belongs: indoors, in dry rooms.

Sitting flush, it suits living rooms, bedrooms, home offices and hallways, and it is a good choice wherever a pendant would hang too low. The two-ring outline covers more of the ceiling than a single round light, which makes sense over a sofa or a dining table. As a smart light it is controlled by app, so you can dim it and move the colour temperature anywhere from a warm 2700K for evenings to a crisp 6500K for working hours. The same fitting can set a relaxed mood after dinner and a bright, clear light for paperwork the next morning.

There is no switch on the fitting itself: it is switched at the wall, and the app looks after brightness and colour temperature. It also works with a remote control, which is sold separately and is not in the box. As a mains light wired into the ceiling, it is installed by a qualified electrician, and the installation instructions come as a download. It weighs 1.941KG packed, so it is easy to lift into position. Leave the wall switch on whenever you want the app in charge, since switching off at the wall cuts power to the light.
