Description

This is a set of three stoneware and iron candle holders, each shaped like a wrapped sweet with twisted ends. The set gives three different designs: a striped sweet, a block-shaped sweet scattered with dots, and a rounder sweet with broad bands, all in multicoloured, handpainted stoneware. Each holder is 10cm long, 5cm wide and 5.5cm tall, so these are small, low pieces that sit neatly in a tight spot rather than tall candlesticks that need clearance. A metal ring at the top of each one holds a single candle upright.

Because they are so compact, all three fit along a windowsill, a mantelpiece or the middle of a festive table, and they work best grouped together, where the different patterns play off one another. They suit a Christmas display, sitting happily beside other seasonal decorations, but the cheerful colour and sweet shapes also brighten a sideboard or bookshelf through the rest of the year.
