Description
The Knightsbridge LED Emergency Exit Sign is a 4W LED-illuminated exit box with an integrated automatic self-test facility that runs periodic diagnostic checks in accordance with EN 62034. The sign operates in maintained or non-maintained mode, providing 3-hour emergency illumination from a built-in LiFePO4 battery when mains power fails.
Designed for commercial, retail and public building fire safety installations, the sign mounts to walls or ceilings above exit routes, escape corridors and fire exit doors. The white polycarbonate housing measures 324mm wide by 169mm tall by 42mm deep and fits standard surface mounting. The sign ships with an arrow-up legend pre-installed, plus alternative arrow-down and left/right arrow legends in the box for site-specific configuration.
The automatic self-test function eliminates manual monthly and annual testing by running pre-programmed checks on the battery, LED array and charging circuit. A diagnostic LED indicator on the front panel shows test status and fault codes, making compliance auditing simpler. The 6000K daylight-white SMD LEDs deliver 150 lumens in mains mode and 120 lumens in emergency mode, visible from 110° beam angle. The opal diffuser spreads light evenly across the legend, maintaining readability in smoke or low-light conditions.

Frequently Asked
What does the self-test function do?
The integrated self-test runs automatic diagnostic checks on the battery, LEDs and charging circuit at pre-programmed intervals in accordance with EN 62034. A status LED on the front panel indicates pass/fail results and displays fault codes if an issue is detected, removing the need for manual monthly and annual testing.
What's the difference between maintained and non-maintained mode?
In maintained mode the sign stays illuminated continuously while mains power is present and switches to battery during a power cut. In non-maintained mode the sign only illuminates when mains power fails. The mode is selected during installation via internal wiring configuration.
How long does the battery last in emergency mode?
The LiFePO4 battery provides 3 hours of emergency illumination at 120 lumens when fully charged, meeting UK fire safety standards for most commercial and public buildings.
Can the arrow direction be changed?
Yes. The sign ships with arrow-up pre-installed, plus alternative arrow-down and left/right arrow legends in the box. The front diffuser panel lifts off to allow the legend to be swapped on site without re-wiring.
