Description

A small cylinder of clear crystal held in a French gold frame, this is a shade on its own rather than a complete light. The crystal is cut and set in close rows so the light breaks up as it passes through, throwing small bright points onto the surfaces nearby. At 15cm across and 24cm tall it is a compact, upright shape, and the straight sides keep it looking tidy in a row rather than fussy.

We reach for shades like this where a plain glass or fabric shade would sit too quietly, over a kitchen island, a run of three above a breakfast bar, or singly beside a bed. It suits anyone building a light to their own measurements, since you choose the suspension, the drop and the finish of the fitting it hangs from. The warm gold tone works well against darker paint and timber, and against brass or gold ironmongery elsewhere in the room.
