This is an outdoor rug printed with a koi pond scene: orange, white and spotted koi carp swimming among lily pads on a deep navy blue ground. The design is digitally printed onto a polyester flatweave base, which puts the detail and colour right into the surface of the cloth rather than raised into a pile. It measures 120 x 170cm, a size that anchors a small seating group, a bistro set or a reading corner without swamping a balcony. Polyester is the fibre that makes an outdoor rug work: it sheds water rather than soaking it up, so the rug does not stay sodden the way a natural fibre would.
