Description
The Knightsbridge Torlan is a 1828mm (6ft) non-corrosive batten fitting with switchable 30W or 60W LED output, selectable colour temperature (3000K, 4000K or 5700K), integrated 3-hour emergency backup and a fully adjustable microwave sensor. The polycarbonate housing carries an IP65 weatherproof rating and an IK08 impact rating, allowing installation in demanding indoor and outdoor environments including car parks, warehouses, loading bays, agricultural buildings and covered walkways.
Both wattage and colour temperature are adjusted via internal DIP switches before installation, giving specifiers flexibility to match the fitting to the exact requirements of each zone without stocking multiple SKU variants. At 30W the batten delivers 4,750 lumens at 4000K (158 lm/W), and at 60W it delivers 8,660 lumens at 4000K (144 lm/W). The integrated microwave sensor allows automatic switching in circulation areas, stores and car parks where occupancy-based control reduces running hours and energy consumption.
The emergency function provides 3-hour backup at 385 lumens using a maintenance-free LiFePO4 battery, with selectable maintained, non-maintained or switched modes to comply with BS 5266-1 emergency lighting regulations. The polycarbonate construction resists corrosion in damp and coastal environments, and the stainless steel diffuser clips provide secure fastening without plastic degradation over time. The 90mm square cross-section profile allows surface mounting to ceilings, walls and soffits, with optional suspension accessories available separately. The opal diffuser provides 150-degree beam spread, giving broad uniform coverage across loading areas, production floors and circulation routes.

Frequently Asked
How do I switch between 30W and 60W output?
The wattage is selected via an internal DIP switch accessible when the diffuser is removed before installation. The switch setting determines whether the batten operates at 30W (4,750 lumens at 4000K) or 60W (8,660 lumens at 4000K). Once set, the wattage remains fixed until manually changed.
What is the difference between maintained, non-maintained and switched emergency modes?
In maintained mode the emergency lamp stays on continuously when mains power is present. In non-maintained mode the emergency lamp only activates during a mains failure. In switched mode the main fitting is controlled by a switch but the emergency lamp activates automatically during mains failure. The mode is selected via internal DIP switches before installation to comply with BS 5266-1 requirements for the specific application.
How does the microwave sensor work?
The integrated microwave sensor detects movement within its coverage zone and switches the batten on automatically. Sensitivity and hold time are adjustable via controls accessible when the diffuser is removed. The sensor is useful in car parks, storage areas and circulation routes where occupancy-based control reduces energy consumption by switching off during unoccupied periods.
Can this be used outdoors?
Yes. The IP65 rating protects against water jets from any direction, making the batten suitable for covered outdoor areas including loading bays, external covered walkways, agricultural buildings and canopied car parks. The polycarbonate housing resists corrosion in damp and coastal environments, and the IK08 impact rating provides protection against mechanical impact.
