Knightsbridge Torlan 5ft 26W/48W CCT Emergency Non-Corrosive Batten IP65 IK08

The Knightsbridge Torlan is a 1563mm (5ft) non-corrosive LED batten with switchable wattage (26W or 48W) and switchable colour temperature (3000K, 4000K or 5700K), all housed in an IP65-rated polycarbonate body with IK08 impact resistance. Internal DIP switches allow selection of both wattage and CCT at installation, so one fitting covers multiple output requirements without needing to stock separate variants. At 48W and 4000K, the fitting delivers 7,250 lumens at 155lm/W efficacy.

Designed for commercial, industrial and outdoor applications where both ingress protection and impact resistance matter, the Torlan suits car parks, loading bays, warehouses, external walkways, food preparation areas and agricultural buildings. The IP65 rating protects against dust ingress and water jets, while the IK08 impact rating withstands accidental knocks from trolleys, forklifts and equipment. The fitting includes a 3-hour emergency function with a LiFePO4 battery, providing 320 lumens in emergency mode with maintained, non-maintained or switched operation selectable via internal wiring.

The polycarbonate housing resists corrosion in damp, salt-laden and chemically active environments better than painted steel equivalents, and the stainless steel diffuser clips prevent rust spots forming around the fastening points. The opal diffuser provides uniform 140° beam distribution without visible LED hotspots. Surface mounting is standard; suspension mounting requires an optional accessory kit. The fitting measures 1563mm × 90mm × 90mm and weighs approximately 2.8kg with the emergency pack fitted.

How do I change the wattage and colour temperature?

Internal DIP switches on the driver allow selection of 26W or 48W output and 3000K, 4000K or 5700K colour temperature. These settings are adjusted during installation before the diffuser is clipped into place. Once set, the fitting operates at the selected wattage and CCT without needing external controls.

What's the difference between maintained, non-maintained and switched emergency modes?

Maintained mode keeps the emergency LEDs on continuously and switches to battery power during mains failure. Non-maintained mode only activates the emergency LEDs when mains power is lost. Switched mode allows the emergency LEDs to be switched on and off during normal operation, but they activate automatically during power failure. The mode is selected via internal wiring connections during installation.

Can the batten be used outdoors?

Yes. The IP65 rating protects against rain, hose wash-down and dust ingress, making it suitable for covered outdoor areas such as canopies, external walkways and loading bays. The polycarbonate housing resists UV degradation and salt corrosion better than painted steel alternatives.

What mounting options are available?

Surface mounting is standard, with fixing points on the rear of the housing. Suspension mounting requires an optional accessory kit (sold separately). The fitting can be mounted individually or linked in continuous runs where multiple battens are needed along a ceiling or wall line.
