Description

The Knightsbridge Torlan is a 4ft (1263mm) IP65-rated LED batten built from anti-corrosive polycarbonate with an IK08 impact rating, housing selectable CCT (3000K/4000K/5700K) and dual wattage settings (19W or 37W) switchable via internal DIP switches. An integrated microwave sensor provides occupancy detection, while the 3-hour self-test emergency function with LiFePO4 battery gives automatic failsafe lighting during mains power loss.

Designed for commercial, industrial and outdoor environments where water ingress, impact and corrosion are concerns, the Torlan suits warehouse aisles, loading bays, car parks, plant rooms, cold stores and covered walkways. The IP65 weatherproof rating allows surface mounting on external soffits and canopies, while the IK08 impact rating withstands knocks from trolleys, ladders and machinery in high-traffic settings. The stainless steel diffuser clips resist rust in coastal or high-humidity locations.

The selectable wattage feature allows a single SKU to cover two lumen outputs: 3,015lm at 19W (4000K) or 5,550lm at 37W (4000K), both delivering efficacy up to 169.3lm/W. The microwave sensor can be adjusted for detection range and hold time, allowing the batten to dim or switch off when spaces are unoccupied, reducing energy consumption in intermittently-used areas. The opal diffuser provides a 115° beam angle for wide, even coverage across aisles and open floor areas.

The emergency mode operates in maintained, non-maintained or switched configurations depending on installation wiring, providing 340lm output for three hours from the integrated LiFePO4 battery when mains power is lost. The self-test function cycles the emergency circuit automatically to verify battery health without manual intervention. The grey polycarbonate housing has a square 90mm profile and can be surface-mounted to ceilings, walls or joists using standard fixings, or suspension-mounted with optional accessories.

How do I select the wattage and colour temperature?

The Torlan has internal DIP switches accessible when the diffuser is removed. One set of switches selects between 19W and 37W output, while another set selects between 3000K warm white, 4000K neutral white, or 5700K cool white. Once set, the batten will operate at that configuration every time it is powered on.

What is the microwave sensor detection range?

The microwave sensor detection range and hold time are adjustable via internal controls. Typical detection range is 8-12m depending on installation height and ceiling reflectance. The sensor can be set to dim the output when no movement is detected, or to switch off entirely after the hold time expires.

Does the emergency function require a separate circuit?

No. The emergency circuit is integrated within the batten and powered by a LiFePO4 battery inside the housing. The emergency mode can be wired as maintained (always on when mains is present), non-maintained (only on during mains failure), or switched (controlled by a wall switch), depending on how the installation is terminated.

Can the batten be suspended from chains or cable?

Yes, but suspension mounting requires optional accessories. The batten is supplied for surface mounting to ceilings, walls or joists using the mounting bracket on the rear of the housing. Knightsbridge offers suspension kits separately — contact us for compatibility and availability.
