Description
The Knightsbridge Torlan is a 4ft (1263mm) non-corrosive LED batten with internal switches that allow selection between 19W and 37W output, and between 3000K, 4000K and 5700K colour temperatures. The integrated emergency module provides 3-hour backup lighting at 340 lumens in maintained, non-maintained or switched emergency modes, powered by a LiFePO4 battery. The entire housing is constructed from anti-corrosive polycarbonate with an IP65 weatherproof rating and an IK08 impact rating.
Designed for commercial, industrial and outdoor environments where both functional lighting and emergency egress illumination are required, the Torlan suits warehouses, car parks, loading bays, storage areas, workshops, plant rooms and covered walkways. The IP65 rating protects against water jets and dust ingress, while the IK08 rating withstands moderate impact from equipment or moving objects. The opal polycarbonate diffuser spreads light across a 115° beam angle, providing general area illumination rather than task-focused lighting.
The dual wattage and tri-CCT selection reduces stock complexity for trade buyers and allows installers to adjust the fitting on-site to match the required lumen output and light colour without carrying multiple SKUs. At 19W the batten outputs 3,015 lumens at 4000K (159 lm/W); at 37W it outputs 5,550 lumens at 4000K (150 lm/W). Stainless steel diffuser clips secure the opal cover and resist corrosion in damp or humid conditions. The fitting is surface-mountable as standard, or can be suspension-mounted using optional accessories.
The L70B50 rating of 60,000 hours indicates that 50% of a batch will retain at least 70% of initial light output after 60,000 hours of operation — approximately seven years of continuous use or fifteen years at 12 hours per day. The 5-year warranty covers the LED module and driver but excludes the emergency battery, which has a shorter service life and may require replacement after 3-4 years depending on discharge frequency.

Frequently Asked
How do I switch between the different wattages and colour temperatures?
Internal DIP switches inside the housing allow selection between 19W and 37W output, and between 3000K, 4000K and 5700K colour temperatures. The switches are accessed by removing the diffuser cover. Settings should be configured before final installation.
What emergency modes does the batten support?
The integrated emergency module supports maintained (light stays on continuously, switches to battery during mains failure), non-maintained (light only activates on mains failure), and switched emergency (light operates normally via switch, activates on mains failure) modes. The emergency output is 340 lumens for 3 hours.
Can it be used outdoors?
Yes. The IP65 rating protects against water jets and dust ingress, making the batten suitable for covered outdoor areas such as loading bays, external walkways, car park canopies and covered storage. It should not be exposed to direct submersion or prolonged heavy rain without overhead shelter.
What is the emergency battery lifespan?
The LiFePO4 emergency battery typically lasts 3-4 years depending on discharge frequency and ambient temperature. The 5-year warranty excludes the battery. Replacement batteries can be sourced through Knightsbridge or specialist emergency lighting suppliers.
