Description
The Knightsbridge EMTWINLPC is a non-maintained emergency twin spot with two adjustable LED heads mounted on a white polycarbonate base unit housing a rechargeable LiFePO4 battery. Each head contains a 3W LED delivering 6000K daylight-white light, combining for 440 lumens of emergency illumination when mains power fails. The unit operates in non-maintained mode only, meaning the LEDs activate automatically during a power cut but do not illuminate under normal mains operation.
Designed for commercial buildings, offices, warehouses and residential common areas where emergency exit route lighting is required, the twin spot mounts to a wall or ceiling and provides directional coverage across two separate zones. Each head rotates 360 degrees on its mount and tilts through 180 degrees, allowing the light to be aimed at doorways, stairs, corridor sections or exit signs as needed during installation. The IP20 rating makes this suitable for indoor dry locations only.
The polycarbonate construction keeps the unit lightweight at under 1kg while providing impact resistance for installations in circulation areas. The LiFePO4 battery technology offers a longer cycle life than older NiCd or NiMH cells and recharges from the 230V mains connection during normal operation. The 3-hour emergency duration meets UK Building Regulations Part B requirements for most non-residential escape route lighting, and the integrated LEDs eliminate the need for lamp replacement over the unit's service life.

Frequently Asked
What does non-maintained mean?
Non-maintained emergency lights only activate when mains power fails. During normal operation the LEDs remain off and the battery charges from the 230V supply. When power is lost the unit switches to battery mode and the LEDs illuminate escape routes for 3 hours. This differs from maintained mode where the lights stay on continuously.
Can the light heads be adjusted after installation?
Yes. Each head rotates 360 degrees and tilts through 180 degrees on its mount, allowing you to direct the light at specific areas such as doorways, stairs or corridor sections once the base unit is fixed to the wall or ceiling.
Is this suitable for outdoor use?
No. The IP20 rating means this unit is for indoor dry locations only. It is not protected against moisture ingress and should not be installed in bathrooms, outdoor canopies or any location exposed to rain or condensation.
How often does the battery need replacing?
LiFePO4 batteries typically offer 4-6 years of service life under normal charge-discharge cycles. The unit should be tested monthly using the test button and the battery replaced when it no longer holds a 3-hour charge. Consult a qualified electrician for battery replacement.
