Description

The Knightsbridge EMLED1L is a 6W LED emergency bulkhead rated IP65 for both indoor and outdoor installation. The polycarbonate body and prismatic diffuser house an integrated SMD LED array delivering 490 lumens in mains mode and 260 lumens during emergency operation, maintaining illumination for a minimum of 3 hours on battery power. The fitting can be configured for maintained, non-maintained or switched emergency operation depending on site requirements.

Designed for emergency exit route lighting in commercial buildings, car parks, stairwells, corridors and outdoor covered areas, the bulkhead meets Class II insulation standards and operates on 230V 50Hz mains supply. The IP65 rating provides protection against dust ingress and water jets, allowing the fitting to be installed in damp or exposed outdoor locations where standard emergency fittings would fail. A self-adhesive legend kit is supplied as standard, allowing exit signage to be applied directly to the diffuser face without additional hardware.

The 345mm length and 107mm width give the bulkhead a substantial presence on walls and ceilings without dominating smaller corridors, while the 76mm projection keeps the fitting close to the mounting surface. The built-in easy-fit gear tray simplifies installation and maintenance access, and the LiFePO4 battery technology provides longer service life and better temperature performance than older NiCd cells. The 6000K daylight colour temperature and 115-degree beam angle spread light evenly across exit routes, and the >80 CRI ensures colour rendering meets commercial building standards.

What is the difference between maintained and non-maintained mode?

In non-maintained mode the bulkhead only illuminates during a mains power failure, drawing from the battery. In maintained mode the LED stays lit continuously on mains power and switches to battery during power loss. The EMLED1L can be configured for either mode on installation depending on whether the location requires constant illumination or emergency-only lighting.

How long does the emergency battery last?

The LiFePO4 battery provides a minimum of 3 hours of emergency illumination at 260 lumens when fully charged. The battery recharges automatically when mains power is restored.

Is the IP65 rating suitable for outdoor use?

Yes. The IP65 rating protects against dust ingress and water jets, making the bulkhead suitable for outdoor covered areas such as canopies, loading bays, external stairwells and car park entrances where the fitting is shielded from direct rainfall.

What legend kit is included?

A self-adhesive legend kit is supplied as standard, allowing exit signage to be applied to the diffuser face. The legend sheet typically includes directional arrows and text to indicate emergency exit routes.
