Description
The Knightsbridge 5ft LED batten combines adjustable wattage (22W or 41W), adjustable colour temperature (3000K, 4000K or 5700K), integrated emergency lighting and a microwave presence sensor in a single 1525mm steel and polycarbonate fitting. The wattage and CCT are selected using switches on the gear tray during installation, allowing one product to cover multiple lighting scenarios without carrying separate stock.
Designed as a direct replacement for conventional 5ft fluorescent tube battens in commercial, industrial and educational environments, the fitting mounts to standard 600mm centres or BESA boxes and includes rear and end conduit fixing points. The microwave sensor detects presence without requiring line-of-sight, so the fitting can be mounted above suspended ceilings or partitions and still trigger reliably. The emergency mode uses an integrated lithium battery providing a minimum 3-hour emergency duration in maintained, non-maintained or switched configurations.
The hinged gear tray opens for access to the wattage and CCT selectors, emergency mode switches and push-fit loop-in-loop-out connectors, reducing installation time compared to screw-terminal battens. At 41W the output reaches 6,040 lumens at 4000K with an efficacy of 160.58 lm/W, while the 22W setting delivers 3,300 lumens at 4000K for lower-ceiling or lower-footfall areas. The opal polycarbonate diffuser spreads light at a 145-degree beam angle, minimising striping on surfaces below.
The pressed steel body and polycarbonate diffuser are finished in white and rated IP20 for dry internal environments. The fitting carries a 5-year warranty (excluding the emergency battery) and an L70B50 rating of 60,000 hours, equivalent to approximately 13 years at 12 hours per day operation.

Frequently Asked
How do I set the wattage and colour temperature?
The hinged gear tray opens to reveal switches for selecting either 22W or 41W output and 3000K, 4000K or 5700K colour temperature. Set these during installation before closing the tray and connecting mains power.
How does the microwave sensor work?
The microwave sensor detects movement through non-metallic barriers such as plasterboard or suspended ceiling tiles, so the batten does not require direct line-of-sight to the occupied area. Detection range and hold time are adjustable via controls on the gear tray.
What emergency modes are available?
The batten supports maintained (always lit when mains power is present, switches to battery on power loss), non-maintained (only lit on mains power loss) and switched (controlled by a switch, switches to battery on power loss) emergency modes. The lithium battery provides a minimum 3-hour emergency duration at 360 lumens.
Is it suitable for damp or outdoor environments?
No. The IP20 rating limits the batten to dry internal environments only. For damp areas such as commercial kitchens or covered outdoor walkways, use an IP65-rated alternative from the Knightsbridge range.
