Description
The Knightsbridge BATSCDAST4 is a 1225mm (4ft) 32W LED batten with integrated DALI control gear, CCT switching between 3000K, 4000K and 5700K, and self-test emergency lighting functionality. The batten housing is pressed steel with an opal polycarbonate diffuser, finished in white, and provides 4480 lumens at 4000K with an efficacy of 157 lumens per watt.
Designed as a direct replacement for conventional 4ft fluorescent battens in commercial, industrial and institutional spaces, the fitting uses rear and end conduit fixings that align with existing mounting points. The hinged gear tray allows access to the DALI wiring terminals and emergency battery without removing the entire fitting from the ceiling or wall. Push-fit loop-in-loop-out terminals accept standard mains cable for daisy-chaining multiple fittings on a single circuit.
The DALI control gear allows the batten to be integrated into room-level or building-wide lighting management systems for scheduled dimming, occupancy response and daylight compensation. The self-test emergency mode automatically runs function and duration tests on the internal battery, eliminating manual testing requirements and maintaining compliance with BS 5266 and BS EN 50172. The CCT switch on the driver allows the colour temperature to be set during installation without changing the LED module.
The opal diffuser spreads light evenly across the 105-degree beam angle, reducing striping and hotspots on task surfaces below. The IP20 rating suits dry indoor environments including offices, corridors, warehouses, retail back-of-house and plant rooms. The L70B50 rating of 60,000 hours indicates the fitting will maintain at least 70% of its initial light output after approximately 6.8 years of continuous operation.

Frequently Asked
What does DALI control allow?
DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) allows this batten to be integrated into room-level or building-wide lighting management systems. Each fitting can be individually addressed for scheduled dimming, occupancy response, daylight compensation and remote monitoring.
How does the self-test emergency function work?
The self-test mode automatically runs function and duration tests on the internal battery at pre-programmed intervals, eliminating the need for manual monthly and annual testing. The system logs test results and maintains compliance with BS 5266 and BS EN 50172 emergency lighting standards.
Can the colour temperature be changed after installation?
Yes. The CCT switch on the driver allows the colour temperature to be set to 3000K (warm white), 4000K (neutral white) or 5700K (cool white) during or after installation without changing the LED module or removing the fitting.
What ceiling height is suitable for this batten?
The 105-degree beam angle and 4480 lumen output at 4000K suit ceiling heights of 2.4-4m in commercial and industrial spaces. For warehouse or high-bay applications above 4m, multiple fittings or higher-output models may be needed to achieve the required lux levels.
