Description

The Knightsbridge 25W constant current LED driver delivers a fixed 350mA output across a 36-72V range, designed to power LED modules and panels that require constant current rather than constant voltage. The driver accepts 230V 50Hz mains input and converts it to a regulated DC output, preventing current spikes that can degrade LED lifespan.

Designed for residential, hospitality and commercial lighting installations where the LED fitting requires a separate driver rather than integrated electronics, this unit fits into ceiling voids, behind panels, or inside larger light fittings where a 120mm x 45mm x 28mm footprint can be accommodated. The IP20 rating limits use to dry indoor locations only — not suitable for bathrooms, outdoor or damp environments.

The driver is dimmable when paired with trailing-edge phase-cut dimmers on the mains side of the installation. Compatibility depends on the specific dimmer model and the total load, so testing the dimmer-driver-LED combination before final installation is recommended. The white polycarbonate housing includes push-fit terminal blocks for mains input and low-voltage output connections, and the Class II double-insulated construction removes the need for an earth connection on the output side.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between constant current and constant voltage LED drivers?

Constant current drivers like this one deliver a fixed current (350mA) while the voltage varies depending on the LED load. Constant voltage drivers deliver a fixed voltage (typically 12V or 24V) while the current varies. LED modules and panels specify which type they need — using the wrong driver type can damage the LEDs or cause premature failure.

Can this be dimmed with any dimmer switch?

The driver is compatible with most trailing-edge phase-cut dimmers on the 230V mains input side. Leading-edge dimmers are not supported. Dimmer compatibility also depends on the total wattage and the specific LED load, so testing the complete circuit before final installation is recommended.

Where can this driver be installed?

The IP20 rating limits installation to dry indoor locations only. Typical installation positions include ceiling voids above plasterboard ceilings, behind wall panels, or inside larger light fittings where there is adequate ventilation around the driver. The driver must not be installed in bathrooms, outdoor locations, or anywhere moisture or condensation can reach the unit.

What size void or cavity is needed?

The driver measures 120mm x 45mm x 28mm, so a minimum cavity depth of 35-40mm is recommended to allow for terminal block connections and cable bend radius. The unit should not be enclosed in insulation or sealed enclosures where heat cannot dissipate.
