Description

The Knightsbridge 24VDCA is a 12W constant voltage LED driver that converts 230V 50Hz mains input to a regulated 24V DC output at 0.50A. Housed in a red polycarbonate case measuring 98mm x 36mm x 22mm, the driver is designed for permanent installation behind fittings, inside false ceilings, or within control enclosures where IP20 protection is sufficient.

Constant voltage drivers suit LED strip lighting, LED tape, and multi-point LED installations where several low-voltage fittings run from a single transformer. The 24V output remains stable across the load range, preventing brightness fluctuation as LEDs are switched on or off downstream. The driver is non-dimmable and rated for indoor dry locations only — bathrooms, outdoor applications, and wet environments require a higher IP-rated alternative.

The Class II construction means the driver has double or reinforced insulation and does not require an earth connection, simplifying installation in retrofit situations where earthing is absent or unreliable. The polycarbonate housing provides impact resistance and thermal management, with ventilation slots allowing passive cooling during continuous operation. Maximum ambient temperature is 50°C, and the driver includes overload and short-circuit protection to prevent damage if the output is accidentally shorted.

Frequently Asked

What's the difference between constant voltage and constant current drivers?

Constant voltage drivers output a fixed voltage (24V in this case) and allow the current to vary depending on the connected load. They suit LED strip and tape where multiple LEDs are wired in parallel. Constant current drivers output a fixed current and allow voltage to vary, and they suit single high-power LEDs or series-wired LED arrays.

Can this driver be used with dimmers?

No. The 24VDCA is non-dimmable. Pairing it with a mains dimmer will cause flicker, premature failure, or no output at all. If dimming is required, choose a dimmable constant voltage driver from the Knightsbridge range.

Where can the driver be installed?

The IP20 rating means the driver is suitable for dry indoor locations only. Typical installation points include false ceilings above LED strip, inside kitchen plinths for plinth lighting, behind mirrors with integrated LED tape, or within control panels. It cannot be used in bathrooms, outdoors, or anywhere subject to moisture or condensation.

What size LED load can it power?

The 12W output at 24V delivers 0.50A maximum current. Total connected LED load must not exceed 12W. For example, 1m of 9.6W/m LED tape would be acceptable, but 2m of the same tape (19.2W total) would exceed the driver's capacity and require a higher-wattage model.
