Knightsbridge 100W LED Floodlight - 4000K Cool White IP65

The Knightsbridge FLPA100 is a 100W LED floodlight delivering 10,010 lumens of 4000K cool white light through a die-cast aluminium housing rated to IP65. The integrated SMD LED array sits behind a clear diffuser and high-output reflector, casting a 105-degree beam across driveways, carparks, building facades, loading bays and garden perimeters where high-level security or area lighting is needed.

Designed for permanent outdoor installation, the floodlight mounts via a pivoting bracket on the rear that allows the light head to be angled towards the target area after the bracket is fixed to a wall or soffit. The IP65 rating protects the internal electronics against water jets from any direction and dust ingress, making the fitting suitable for exposed positions in coastal, industrial and urban environments. An internal terminal block on the rear accepts direct mains wiring without needing a separate junction box.

The anthracite-finished die-cast aluminium body dissipates heat from the LED array without requiring cooling fins or active ventilation, keeping the external surface temperature within safe limits during continuous operation. At 107.4 lumens per watt, the floodlight provides comparable light output to a 500W halogen equivalent while drawing one-fifth of the power. The LED array carries an L70B50 rating of 54,000 hours, meaning it will retain at least 70% of initial brightness after approximately six years of continuous use.

The 4000K colour temperature produces neutral cool white light that renders colours accurately under CRI >80, making the floodlight suitable for commercial environments where tasks requiring colour recognition take place outdoors—loading docks, service yards, outdoor retail displays. The fitting is compatible with LED-rated external PIR sensors for motion-activated operation where continuous lighting is not required.

What area does the 100W floodlight cover?

At 10,010 lumens with a 105-degree beam angle, the floodlight provides effective security lighting across approximately 60-80 square metres when mounted 3-4 metres above ground level. Coverage depends on mounting height, angle and required lux levels for the application.

Can it be used with a PIR motion sensor?

Yes. The floodlight is compatible with LED-rated external PIR sensors. Check that any sensor you pair with it carries an LED-compatible rating and can handle the 100W load on 230V mains.

How is it wired?

An internal terminal block on the rear of the housing accepts direct mains wiring. The floodlight is Class I earthed, so requires live, neutral and earth connections to 230V 50Hz supply. Installation should be carried out by a qualified electrician.

What does the IP65 rating mean in practice?

IP65 certifies protection against dust ingress and water jets from any direction. The floodlight can be installed in fully exposed outdoor positions subject to rain, coastal spray and windblown dust without the housing leaking or corroding prematurely.
