A neat round body in anthracite, this one takes two GU10 reflector lamps and stands 150mm tall against the wall. Projection is a modest 95mm, so it sits close to the brickwork and stays clear of opening doors, gates and side passages where a wider fitting would be in the way. There is no switch on the housing, so it works from the switch already serving that point, and it is not dimmable. We like it for the quiet jobs around a house exterior, where light matters more than the fitting does.

It earns its place beside a front door, over a back step, on a garage flank or spaced along a boundary wall, and the compact round shape reads well on render, brick and painted timber alike. The rating covers dust and splashing water, so rain and the odd sweep of a hose are taken in its stride. It suits anyone lighting several points on one elevation without spending much per position, and it is one we reach for where a lantern would look too heavy for a modern porch.

Anthracite is a deep grey that sits almost black against dark brick and gives a clean contrast on pale render, and it disguises road film and rain marks better than a light finish does. For cleaning, isolate the supply first, then wipe the housing with a cloth wrung out in warm water and dry it off so nothing is left standing in the finish; cobwebs and grit tend to gather along the top edge outdoors, so a seasonal check is worth the minute it takes.
