Description

A jug blown from recycled glass, 21cm tall and 13cm across, holding 1700ml. The body is barrel-shaped, widest through the middle and drawing in at the foot and the neck, and the surface is embossed: banded ribs round the top and the bottom, and a raised check with small bobbles across the belly between them. A plain clear handle is applied to one side and the rim is left smooth.

At 1700ml this is a jug for the table rather than for the fridge shelf, and it takes water, juice or cocktails. The embossing gives a grip when the outside is wet, and it breaks up the light coming through, so the jug reads as textured whether it is full or empty. Filled, the pattern throws shadows across the water inside.

The glass is recycled and each jug is blown by hand. The check is pressed into the surface while the glass is still hot, so the depth of the pattern and the thickness of the wall differ from jug to jug. The Kaanch range also holds a tumbler and a highball, both in sets of four.
