Description

A tall, straight-sided ceramic jug, 21.5cm high and 8.5cm across, in a cream glaze with a pulled lip and a full loop handle. Around the top a band of small green drops is painted on by hand, points downward, packed tight at the rim and thinning out as the band comes down the body. Below that the jug is plain cream to the foot. It holds a litre.

At 21.5cm this is the taller of the two Juniper Drop jugs, and it stands among glasses on a table without getting lost. It pours water or juice through the pulled lip, and the same straight body takes cut stems, so between meals it will do as a vase for a handful of flowers or for dried grasses. It is food safe.

The jug is ceramic, made in Vietnam and shaped by hand. The drops are put on with a brush, one at a time, so the spacing and the weight of each mark differ from jug to jug and no two bands come out identical. The Juniper Drop range runs wide: a smaller jug, plates, bowls, mugs, a teapot, a butter dish and a twelve-piece dinnerware set.

Yes, by hand, with a brush, drop by drop. That is why the band differs a little from jug to jug.
