Description

Our birthday decoration takes the form of a little train: an engine followed by a line of linked wagons, each carrying small figures of mice, a rabbit and wrapped gift boxes. Number figures with a dotted pattern slot into the engine and into one of the wagons, so together they spell out the age being celebrated, and some of the gift boxes double as candle holders. It is made from MDF and beech with aluminium, it is multicoloured, and it measures 38cm long, 5cm wide and 11cm tall.

It is made for children's birthdays, from the very first one onwards. At 38cm long it runs along the middle of a party table without crowding it, and at 11cm tall it stays low enough that guests can still see one another across the table. Change the number figures each year and the same train marks every birthday, so it becomes a decoration the family brings out year after year. Between parties it sits happily on a bookshelf, a windowsill or a chest of drawers in a child's bedroom or nursery, where the little animals and gift boxes keep the room cheerful all year.

The figures, gift boxes and number figures have a spraypainted background with silkscreen printed decoration, which gives the crisp dots, stripes and little whiskered faces.
