Description

The Joan is a 5 light chandelier combining midnight black hourglass-profile shades with a burnished brass circular frame and suspension rods. Each shade is formed from perforated metal with a matt black powder-coat finish, and houses a single E27 bulb (sold separately) that projects light through the perforations and downward through the open base of each hourglass. The shades hang evenly spaced around an 813mm diameter brass ring, suspended from a matching brass canopy via a central stem and five angled support rods.

Designed for dining tables, kitchen islands and entrance halls with ceiling heights of 2.7m or above, the Joan provides both direct task light beneath each shade and decorative ambient light through the perforations. The 2113mm maximum drop is adjustable on installation by shortening the cable inside the central stem, allowing the chandelier to be set 800-1000mm above a dining table or worktop. The fitting accepts five E27 bulbs up to 60W each, giving flexibility to choose LED, halogen or filament bulbs depending on the desired light colour and intensity.

The burnished brass frame has a warm satin finish that sits between polished brass and antique brass in tone, pairing well with both warm-toned and industrial interiors. The midnight black shades provide high contrast against the brass without the harshness of pure black, and the perforations diffuse light across the fitting itself when lit. The combined metal frame and shades give the chandelier substantial presence at 813mm diameter, suited to dining tables 1.8-2.4m long or kitchen islands of similar dimensions.

How is the chandelier cleaned?

The perforated metal shades and brass frame can be wiped with a dry microfibre cloth. For the brass, a metal polish designed for satin or burnished finishes will restore the original tone if the brass tarnishes over time. The midnight black powder-coat finish does not require polishing.
