Description

These are JCB Super Alkaline D cells, supplied two to a blister pack. Each cell is a standard 1.5V alkaline, carrying the D size designation and the international code LR20, with the manufacturer reference MN1300 also printed on the pack. D is the largest of the common cylindrical battery sizes, and that bulk is the point: a bigger cell holds more chemistry, so it runs a hungry device for longer between changes than an AA doing the same job. The pack carries the words Super Alkaline and Built To Last, and a badge stating up to seven times more power, marked with an asterisk.

D cells are what you find in the big rubber-bodied torches, camping lanterns, wireless door chimes, portable radios, older cassette and CD players, and larger battery-driven toys. If you are unsure, open the battery compartment and look at the cell already in there: the size is almost always printed along the body, and anything reading D, LR20 or MN1300 takes these. Two cells cover most torches and chimes; a lantern often wants four, so check the compartment before you order.
