Description

The JCB C LR14 Ultra Alkaline Batteries are supplied as a 2-pack of 1.5V C-size cells using alkaline chemistry for higher energy density than standard zinc-carbon batteries. Each cell measures 50mm in height and 26.2mm in diameter, fitting standard C battery compartments in torches, large toys, portable radios and professional tools.

Designed for high-drain devices that draw continuous current over extended periods, the ultra alkaline formulation delivers up to 10 times the runtime of equivalent zinc batteries in the same application. This makes the batteries suitable for LED torches, motorised toys, power tools and audio equipment where frequent battery changes disrupt use. The packaging includes blister protection to prevent discharge before use.

The batteries carry JCB branding and are manufactured to meet standard alkaline cell specifications for voltage stability and shelf life. The construction includes leak-resistant seals to reduce the risk of electrolyte leakage during storage or discharge, protecting device contacts and internal circuitry. The 2-pack format suits households and tradespeople who keep spare cells for immediate replacement rather than bulk purchasing larger quantities.

Frequently Asked

What devices use C batteries?

C batteries power mid-to-high drain devices including LED torches, portable radios, large motorised toys, lanterns, and some professional power tools. They sit between D cells (higher capacity) and AA cells (lower capacity) in the standard battery size range.

How long do these batteries last compared to standard zinc batteries?

JCB states these ultra alkaline C cells last up to 10 times longer than standard zinc-carbon batteries in the same device. Actual runtime depends on the device's power draw, with high-drain devices like torches and motorised toys seeing the greatest advantage over zinc alternatives.

Are these batteries rechargeable?

No. These are single-use alkaline batteries and must not be recharged. Attempting to recharge alkaline cells can cause leakage or rupture. For rechargeable C cells, look for NiMH (nickel-metal hydride) batteries rated at 1.2V.

What shelf life do these batteries have?

Alkaline C batteries typically hold charge for 5-10 years when stored in cool, dry conditions in their original packaging. The blister pack protects the cells from accidental discharge before use.
