Description

Four AAA cells to a card, each one a 1.5 volt zinc battery marked AAA/R03 on the wrapper. The R03 code is the one to check against the cell you are replacing: it is the international designation for a zinc AAA, and it sits beside the familiar AAA name rather than standing in for something different. Zinc sits at the everyday end of the battery shelf, suited to steady, modest current rather than heavy bursts, and the composition is printed across the front of the card so there is no guessing about what you have picked up.

These suit the quiet appliances that sip power over months rather than draining a cell in an afternoon: television and set top box remotes, wall clocks, a kitchen timer, a door chime push, a small torch kept in a drawer. The card is explicit about the other end of the scale, printing that these cells are not suitable for digital cameras or motorized devices, and that is worth taking at face value.
