Description

The Knightsbridge 316WALK is a recessed ground light built from marine-grade 316 stainless steel with an IP67 rating, designed for installation in driveways, pathways and outdoor areas exposed to vehicle traffic. The fitting accepts either GU10 230V bulbs up to 35W or MR16 12V bulbs up to 35W (bulbs sold separately), with both lampholders supplied in the box. The 190mm recessed depth accommodates the long body required for buried wiring termination via two 20mm compression glands in the base.

Rated to carry 1000kg at 5mph, the fitting can be driven over by cars and light commercial vehicles when installed flush into tarmac, block paving or resin-bound gravel. The 101mm diameter brushed stainless steel faceplate sits 4mm above ground level when correctly fitted, with the clear tempered glass diffuser recessed into the bezel to protect the bulb from direct impact. The 80mm cut-out diameter increases to 95mm when using the optional installation sleeve, which provides a weatherproof barrier between the fitting and the surrounding ground material.

The 316-grade stainless steel construction resists corrosion in coastal environments, heavy rain and freeze-thaw cycles more effectively than standard 304-grade steel used in lower-spec ground lights. The IP67 rating means the fitting can withstand temporary immersion up to 1m depth, making it suitable for areas prone to standing water or heavy surface runoff. When using MR16 12V bulbs a separate transformer is required (not supplied). Dimming capability depends on the bulb choice — GU10 and MR16 LED bulbs vary widely in their compatibility with trailing-edge and leading-edge dimmers.
