Description
The PowerMaster IP65 slimline fixed downlight is a die-cast aluminium recessed fitting with a chrome bezel and frosted glass diffuser, designed around a GU10 lampholder. The IP65 rating provides full protection against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets, making this downlight suitable for bathroom zones 1, 2 and 3, plus covered outdoor locations where moisture and condensation are present.
Designed for bathrooms, shower rooms, covered outdoor porches and utility areas, the slimline profile requires only 110mm ceiling void depth for installation. The fixed bezel sits flush with the ceiling surface once fitted, giving a clean finish that suits both modern and traditional interiors. The 84mm diameter bezel fits a standard downlight cut-out and the chrome finish pairs with bathroom fittings, taps and towel rails in matching finishes.
The frosted glass diffuser softens the light output from the GU10 bulb (sold separately), reducing glare and spreading a wider pool of light compared to bare-bulb downlights. The die-cast aluminium construction provides structural rigidity and heat dissipation for halogen or LED GU10 bulbs up to 35W. The fitting weighs 180g, allowing it to be fitted into plasterboard ceilings with spring-clip retention without additional support brackets.
The acoustic part construction reduces sound transmission between rooms via the ceiling void, which is useful in bathrooms above living spaces or bedrooms. Dimmer compatibility depends on the GU10 bulb chosen — LED GU10s require a compatible LED dimmer, while halogen GU10s work with standard trailing-edge dimmers.

Frequently Asked
What bulb does it take?
The downlight takes a standard GU10 bulb up to 35W. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users fit a warm-white LED GU10 between 4-7W and 2700K-3000K for bathroom lighting.
Can this be used in a bathroom?
Yes. The IP65 rating makes it suitable for bathroom zones 1, 2 and 3, which includes positions above a bath or shower enclosure. It is not rated for zone 0 (inside the bath or shower tray itself).
What ceiling void depth is needed?
The downlight requires 110mm ceiling void depth from the underside of the plasterboard to the obstruction above (joist, insulation layer, or concrete). This is a slimline fitting compared to typical downlights that need 120-150mm.
Is it dimmable?
The fitting itself supports dimming, but dimmer compatibility depends on the GU10 bulb you fit. LED GU10 bulbs require a compatible LED dimmer. Halogen GU10 bulbs work with standard trailing-edge or leading-edge dimmers.
