Description

The Knightsbridge WALL2L is an IP65-rated outdoor wall light with dual GU10 sockets arranged vertically to cast light both upwards and downwards. The cylindrical body measures 60mm diameter by 162mm height and is machined from Grade 304 stainless steel, with an 86mm projection from the wall once mounted. Clear polycarbonate diffusers at each end protect the GU10 lamp positions whilst allowing full light output.

Designed for external wall mounting on patios, building entrances, garage doors and garden perimeter walls, the dual-beam configuration provides both accent lighting (up onto wall surfaces and architectural detail) and functional path lighting (downwards onto steps, doorways and ground surfaces). The IP65 rating means the fitting resists water jets from any direction and is fully dust-tight, making it suitable for year-round outdoor installation in exposed positions.

The 304 stainless steel construction offers corrosion resistance in coastal and high-humidity environments. The brushed finish minimises visible fingerprints during installation and holds up well against weathering. Each GU10 socket accepts halogen or LED lamps up to 35W, giving flexibility to choose warm-white, cool-white or daylight colour temperatures depending on the application. The Class I earthing requires connection to a protective earth terminal during installation.

The lightweight construction relative to cast-metal alternatives simplifies single-person installation, particularly when mounting at height on ladders. The slim 60mm diameter profile suits narrow wall sections and pillar positions where a bulkier fitting would be visually intrusive. Maintenance involves occasional cleaning of the stainless steel surface and replacement of GU10 lamps as they reach end-of-life.

What bulbs does it take?

The fitting takes two GU10 bulbs (one for the uplight, one for the downlight), sold separately. Maximum wattage per socket is 35W. Most installations use LED GU10 bulbs between 4-6W and 2700K-4000K depending on whether warm-white or cool-white light is preferred.

Is it suitable for coastal locations?

The 304 stainless steel construction offers good corrosion resistance in high-humidity and coastal environments. In direct salt-spray zones, occasional rinsing with fresh water will extend the life of the finish.

Can it be installed horizontally?

The fitting is designed for vertical wall mounting with one GU10 pointing up and one pointing down. Horizontal installation would direct both beams sideways, which may not provide the intended lighting effect and could allow water ingress into the lamp holders despite the IP65 rating.

Does it need an earth connection?

Yes. The fitting is Class I and must be connected to a protective earth during installation. A qualified electrician should carry out the wiring in accordance with BS 7671.
