Description

The Knightsbridge BL5BK is an IP65-rated LED surface mount brick light built from polycarbonate with a black finish and an opal diffuser. The integrated 5W LED can be switched between 3000K (495lm) and 4000K (530lm) colour temperatures via a switch on the fitting, allowing the light tone to be adjusted to match existing exterior lighting or personal preference without replacing the unit.

Designed for outdoor path lighting, walkway marking, step illumination and low-level garden wall accents, the fitting surface-mounts to external walls without requiring a cut-out or recess. The 32mm projection from the wall and 235mm x 100mm faceplate give a similar visual profile to a recessed brick light but with simpler installation where cutting into masonry is impractical. The IP65 rating protects the electronics from rain, dust and garden hose spray.

The fitting includes three interchangeable accessories: a grill to reduce direct glare and control light direction, a louvre to create horizontal bands of light, and a plain shade for unobstructed wash light. These accessories snap onto the faceplate without tools, allowing the light pattern to be changed after installation. The polycarbonate construction resists impact and UV degradation better than ABS housings, and the Class II double-insulated design means no earth connection is required during wiring.

The constant-current LED driver is integrated into the fitting and rated for 60,000 hours L70B50 lifespan, meaning the LED will still output 70% of its original brightness after 60,000 operating hours under typical outdoor conditions. The 110-degree beam angle provides a wide wash of light rather than a focused spot, making the fitting suitable for ambient path lighting rather than security floodlighting.

The fitting has a switch accessible during installation that toggles between 3000K warm white (495lm) and 4000K cool white (530lm). Once the fitting is installed and the CCT is selected, the choice remains fixed until the fitting is removed and the switch is toggled again.

Can it be recessed into a wall?

The BL5BK is designed as a surface-mount fitting and sits 32mm proud of the wall. Knightsbridge offers a separate retrofit kit (sold separately) that allows the fitting to be converted into a recessed brick light if a cut-out can be made in the wall.
