Description

The Knightsbridge GU10 square spike light is a compact outdoor spotlight with a die-cast aluminium body finished in matt black and a clear glass lens protecting the GU10 lamp holder. The fitting carries an IP65 rating, making it protected against dust ingress and low-pressure water jets from any direction, suitable for year-round outdoor installation in UK gardens, patios and driveways.

Supplied with both a ground spike and a wall mount bracket, the light can be planted into soil, grass or gravel borders to uplight trees, architectural features or planting, or mounted onto exterior walls, fences or pergola posts to act as a downlight or wash light. The spotlight head tilts on the bracket, allowing the beam to be angled towards the target rather than fixed in a single direction. The 2m pre-wired outdoor cable runs from the rear of the fitting, ready to be connected to a suitable outdoor junction box or low-voltage transformer.

The die-cast aluminium construction resists corrosion better than pressed steel alternatives and maintains structural integrity through freeze-thaw cycles. The square 72mm body sits low in planting borders without dominating smaller shrubs, while the 112mm overall length when spiked into the ground gives enough height to clear ground-cover planting. The fitting accepts any standard GU10 LED or halogen bulb up to 35W (sold separately), with dimmability dependent on the bulb chosen rather than the fitting itself.

Can this be left outdoors year-round?

Yes. The IP65 rating means the fitting is protected against dust and water jets, making it suitable for permanent outdoor installation in UK weather conditions including rain, snow and freezing temperatures.

What bulb does it take?

The fitting takes a standard GU10 bulb up to 35W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this with a 5-7W LED GU10 in warm white (2700K-3000K) for garden accent lighting.

Can the spike be removed to use the wall bracket only?

Yes. Both the ground spike and wall mount bracket are supplied with the fitting. You can choose which mounting method to use depending on where you want to position the light, and the spike detaches from the bracket when wall-mounting is preferred.

Is it dimmable?

Dimmability depends on the GU10 bulb you choose. The fitting itself does not restrict dimming, so if you install a dimmable LED GU10 bulb and connect the circuit to a compatible outdoor dimmer, the light will dim. Non-dimmable bulbs will not dim regardless of the circuit.
