Description
The Knightsbridge IP65 GU10 recessed downlight features a chrome-finished die-cast aluminium bezel with a clear glass lens protecting the lamp cavity from water ingress. The IP65 rating from below allows installation in shower zones, directly above baths, and in other wet areas where standard downlights cannot be used. The fitting accepts any GU10 halogen or LED lamp up to 35W (lamp sold separately).
Designed for bathrooms, shower rooms, wet rooms and outdoor covered areas, the downlight requires a ceiling void depth of at least 140mm and a 64mm circular cut-out in the plasterboard or ceiling material. The 84mm chrome bezel sits 6mm proud of the ceiling surface once installed, giving a defined metallic accent without significant projection. The fitting connects to 230V mains via a Class I earthed connection and is compatible with both halogen and LED GU10 lamps.
The chrome finish provides a reflective metallic accent that pairs cleanly with chrome taps, towel rails and shower fittings in traditional and contemporary bathrooms. The die-cast aluminium construction dissipates heat efficiently when paired with halogen lamps, while the IP65 seal around the lens keeps moisture, steam and splashed water out of the lamp cavity. Note that while the fitting is IP65 from below, it rates IP20 from above — the void space must remain dry.

Frequently Asked
Can this be installed in a shower enclosure?
Yes. The IP65 rating from below allows installation directly above a shower tray or bath, including within the shower enclosure itself. The glass lens and sealed bezel prevent water ingress from steam, splashing and direct spray.
What ceiling void depth is required?
A minimum 140mm void depth is needed to accommodate the 90mm recessed body of the fitting plus clearance for the GU10 lamp and wiring. Measure from the finished ceiling surface to the floor joist or concrete slab above before cutting.
Does it come with a bulb?
No. The fitting accepts any GU10 halogen or LED lamp up to 35W. Most users pair this with a 5-7W GU10 LED in warm white (2700K-3000K) for bathroom lighting.
Is it dimmable?
Dimming depends on the lamp you install. GU10 LED lamps marked as dimmable will work with compatible trailing-edge dimmers. Non-dimmable LEDs and most halogen GU10s are not designed for dimming circuits.
