Description

The Knightsbridge IP65 GU10 recessed downlight is a die-cast aluminium fitting with a brushed chrome faceplate designed for wet-rated installation in bathrooms, shower rooms and outdoor covered areas. The IP65 rating protects against water jets from any direction when viewed from below, while the ceiling void side carries IP20 rating requiring dry installation conditions above the fitting.

The 64mm cutout diameter and 90mm recess depth suit standard ceiling constructions with a minimum 140mm void depth between the ceiling surface and the structure above. The fitting takes any GU10 bulb up to 35W (sold separately), providing compatibility with halogen or LED GU10 lamps depending on the light output and colour temperature required. Dimming capability depends on the bulb selected — most LED GU10s now support dimmer operation if paired with a compatible trailing-edge dimmer.

The brushed chrome finish provides a neutral metallic accent that pairs with both warm and cool bathroom colour schemes without dominating the ceiling plane. The 84mm visible diameter sits flush with the ceiling once installed, with a 6mm projection from the ceiling surface. Can this be used in a shower cubicle?

Yes. The IP65 rating protects against direct water jets when viewed from below, making it suitable for shower cubicles and wet zones in bathrooms. The ceiling void above must remain dry (IP20 from above), so ensure the ceiling construction prevents moisture ingress into the void space.

What bulb should I use?

The fitting takes any GU10 bulb up to 35W (sold separately). Most users now choose LED GU10 lamps between 4-6W and 2700K-4000K colour temperature. LED bulbs provide equivalent light output to 35-50W halogen while consuming less power and lasting significantly longer.

What ceiling void depth is needed?

A minimum 140mm void depth is required between the ceiling surface and the structure above. The fitting itself recesses 90mm into this void, with the remaining clearance needed for the GU10 bulb and wiring connections.

Is it dimmable?

Dimming depends on the GU10 bulb you install. Most modern LED GU10 bulbs are dimmable if paired with a compatible trailing-edge dimmer. Check the bulb packaging for dimmer compatibility before purchasing.
