Description

This outdoor wall lantern is built around a clear cylindrical diffuser, held in a cage of slim vertical rods and capped by a wide conical hood that overhangs the cylinder. The body is stainless steel with a brushed silver sheen, and it mounts on a round back plate with a short curved arm, so the lantern stands proud of the wall rather than sitting flat against it. A lamp holder sits at the base of the cylinder, inside the diffuser, and the pack describes the lantern as a cylindrical diffused design.

Its natural home is beside a front or back door, where the upright cylinder puts light out on every side at roughly head height. It suits porches, garden walls, side passages and garage doors, and the stainless finish sits comfortably against brick, grey render and modern composite doors. The IP44 rating means the lantern is protected against water splashed from any direction, which covers an exposed wall as well as a sheltered porch; indoors, IP44 is enough for bathroom zone 2 and for the areas outside the zones. Yes. The IP44 rating covers protection against water splashed from any direction, so a wall that catches wind driven rain is within what the rating allows, as is a sheltered porch.

Can I run it from a dimmer switch?
