Description
This is a stoneware plate 16.5cm across and 2.5cm tall, which puts it at side plate size: right for toast, a slice of cake, a pastry or a few biscuits beside a cup of tea. A reactive glaze gives it its character. The glaze moves and pools as it fires, so the multicoloured surface reads as soft streaks and washes rather than a printed pattern, and no two plates come out quite alike. The rim is gently uneven, which suits the loose, brushstroke feel of the finish.
At 0.23KG it is light enough to pass round the table easily, and the shallow profile makes it a good plate for breakfast, afternoon tea or a starter. We like it as a dessert plate at a dinner party, or set beside a larger dinner plate as a bread plate. It also works under a small bowl, or as a plate for olives, cheese and crackers when friends visit. Because each one differs a little, a row of them laid along a long table looks collected rather than matched.
It is made entirely of stoneware, a dense ceramic that holds warmth well. Care is simple: it goes in the dishwasher, the microwave and the oven, so you can warm a pastry, reheat a slice of quiche and wash up afterwards without fuss. A low foot lifts it just clear of the table, and the edge curves up gently into a shallow rim. For styling, keep the rest of the table plain, with linen napkins and simple glasses, and let the glaze do the talking.

Frequently Asked
What size is this plate?
It is 16.5cm across and 2.5cm tall, a side plate size that suits toast, cake, pastries or a starter rather than a full dinner.
Can it go in the dishwasher?
Yes. It goes in the dishwasher, so it can be washed with the rest of your everyday plates and cups.
Can I use it in the microwave or the oven?
Yes, it goes in both the microwave and the oven, which makes it handy for warming a pastry or reheating a small portion.
What material is it?
It is made entirely of stoneware, finished with a reactive glaze that gives each plate its multicoloured surface of soft streaks and pools.
Does every plate have the same pattern?
No. A reactive glaze moves as it fires, so the pattern and depth of colour vary a little from one plate to the next.
How heavy is it?
It weighs 0.23KG, light enough to carry several at once when laying or clearing the table.
