Description

Hygge is a floor lamp in cream grey. A small white cone hanging point-up at the top of a very slim white stem that rises the full height of a floor lamp to a flat round white disc base. The cone is shallow and closed at the top, so all the light is thrown down the stem and out at the foot. A small brass collar marks where the stem meets the base. The stem is a plain round tube with no joints and is deliberately thin. The lamp reads as a single drawn vertical line. It measures 19cm across, in aluminium.

It is a lamp to carry out: it stands beside a chair indoors, then on a terrace, a balcony or a path by the back door once the evening is warm enough to sit out. Rated IP54, it will take rain and splashing while it is out there, though it is meant to come back in rather than be left through the winter. Running off its own battery is what makes that possible: there is no flex to run out to it and nothing to trip over on a dark path.

The LED is built in at 3W, so there is no bulb to buy and none to fit. It carries a G energy label. It runs on a 4000mAh battery, so it can be carried from room to room.

No. The LED is built into the fitting, so there is nothing to buy and nothing to fit.

What happens when the LED fails?

The fitting is replaced rather than relamped. At 3W and normal domestic use that is many years away.

How bright is it at full?

Comparable to less than a 25W incandescent bulb at full.

Can it be used outside?

Yes, in a sheltered spot. It is rated IP54, so it will take rain and splashing water, and it is meant to be carried out and brought back in rather than left out through the winter.
