Description
The HERMI is a compact bulkhead light, the type often known in the US as an outdoor wall sconce or wall pack. It takes a single E27 lamp rated up to 25W on a 220-240V AC supply, and accepts GLS, CFL or LED bulbs, so the brightness and colour tone are set by the bulb you fit rather than the fitting itself. The bakelite housing carries a rounded diffuser that spreads a soft, even wash of light around the fixing point, marking a doorway or wall without a harsh hotspot.
With an IP54 rating it copes with splashes and damp air, which makes it a practical choice for sheltered outdoor positions such as a porch, carport or covered side passage, and for bathroom zones away from direct spray. Indoors it works equally well on a utility wall, in a hallway or by a back door. Because the output depends on the bulb chosen, its coverage is best judged by the lamp fitted: a brighter LED gives clear doorway and step marking, while a lower-wattage bulb suits a gentle, ambient glow. It mounts to either a wall or a ceiling.
The body is moulded bakelite in white, a hard-wearing material that resists heat and gives the fitting a clean, simple look. The IP54 sealing keeps out dust and splashing water from any direction, suiting the damp and exposed-but-covered locations noted above. There is no integral driver, since the light source is a standard E27 bulb you supply and replace as needed. It measures 190 x 110 x 124 mm and weighs 720 g, fixing direct to the surface with no recess required.

Frequently Asked
Can the HERMI be used outdoors?
It carries an IP54 rating, so it resists splashing water and damp air and is suited to sheltered outdoor spots such as a porch or carport. It should not be used in fully exposed positions facing direct rain or water jets, and it is not submersible. Keep it under cover for outdoor use.
Is a bulb included?
No, the HERMI takes a separate E27 (ES) bulb that you supply. It accepts GLS, CFL or LED lamps up to a maximum of 25W, so you can choose the brightness and colour temperature to suit the location.
Where is this bulkhead typically used?
It is a versatile fitting for doorways, porches, carports, hallways, utility rooms and bathroom zones away from direct spray. The even diffuser light makes it well suited to entrances and passageways where steady, glare-free illumination is wanted.
How do I clean the diffuser?
Switch off the power and let any bulb cool first, then wipe the bakelite housing and diffuser with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents, which can dull the white finish over time.
