Description

The Hereford is a 150mm diameter outdoor porch pendant with a black die-cast aluminium cage wrapped in traditional scrollwork, clear glass panels, and a matching black chain suspension. The single E27 socket inside the lantern takes a bulb up to 60W (sold separately), casting light through the glass in all directions to illuminate porch steps, entrance areas and covered doorways.

Designed for sheltered outdoor installation, the pendant carries an IP23 rating providing protection against light rain and dust when fitted under a canopy, porch roof or covered veranda. The 490mm chain allows the pendant to be adjusted on installation between a 405mm minimum drop and 785mm maximum drop from the ceiling mounting point, accommodating different porch ceiling heights. The chain conceals the cable run and attaches to a matching black ceiling rose.

The die-cast aluminium construction gives the fitting weather resistance without the weight and maintenance requirements of wrought iron. The black powder-coated finish is applied over the aluminium to prevent corrosion in damp outdoor conditions, and the scrollwork detail adds a decorative accent that pairs well with traditional, rustic and country-style exterior architecture. The clear glass panels are sealed into the frame with gaskets to keep moisture out of the lampholder.

Can this be used in fully exposed outdoor locations?

No. The IP23 rating provides protection against light rain and dust but requires the fitting to be sheltered under a porch roof, canopy or covered veranda. Fully exposed locations need a higher IP rating such as IP44 or IP65.

What bulb should I use?

The pendant takes a standard E27 bulb up to 60W. Most installations pair this with a warm-white LED filament bulb between 6-8W and 2700K to replicate traditional lantern lighting while remaining energy-efficient. Bulbs are sold separately.

Is the chain length adjustable?

Yes, on installation. The 490mm chain can be shortened by removing links before fitting, allowing the pendant to hang between 405mm and 785mm below the ceiling mounting point depending on your porch ceiling height and preferred drop.

How is the glass cleaned?

The glass panels are sealed into the frame. To clean, wipe the exterior glass with a damp microfibre cloth and mild soapy water, then dry. Avoid spraying water directly into the top or bottom of the lantern where the lampholder sits.
