Description
Henrietta is a hedgehog door stop, made up in a soft floral cotton-look fabric with a shaggy spray of faux fur running over her back and around her sides. Her face and belly are worked in a cream cloth printed with fine stems and small flowers in dusky pink, terracotta and green, and she wears a flat olive-green bow at the throat. A little brown pom-pom sits at the tip of her nose and two round black beads give her eyes. She stands roughly 19cm tall, small enough to tuck against a skirting board without dominating the doorway.
She earns her keep holding a door open where a draught or a spring hinge keeps swinging it shut, and she does the job with more character than a plain wedge. Set her at the foot of a bedroom or living-room door, in a hallway, or beside a study door that will not stay put. Her woodland-animal shape and the warm floral print sit happily alongside natural wood, terracotta pots and rush or jute flooring, the kind of relaxed country setting where a novelty piece like this looks at home rather than out of place.
The body is filled to give her the weight a working door stop needs, with the printed panels stitched around the faux-fur back and the pom-pom and bead features added by hand. She is a decorative filled item rather than a toy. If you like her, she has a larger sitting fox companion in the same print, so the two can be used together at different doors around the house.

Frequently Asked
How does the door stop stay in place?
It is a weighted filled body, part-filled with sand, which gives it enough heft to hold a door open against a light draught or a self-closing hinge.
How big is Henrietta?
She stands around 19cm tall and about 15cm wide, a small size that tucks neatly against a skirting board or the foot of a door.
What is the outer fabric like?
The face and belly are a floral-printed woven cloth in cream with pink, terracotta and green flowers, and her back is a shaggy faux fur in mixed browns.
Is this a toy for children?
No, it is a decorative filled door stop with small beads and a pom-pom, so it is meant as a household accessory rather than a plaything.
Does she come with a matching design?
Yes, there is a larger sitting fox door stop in the same floral print, so you can place a pair at different doors if you wish.
