Description

The Hebden bedspread is made from 100% cotton throughout, face, reverse and filling alike, and it gives you two ways to dress a bed from a single piece. One side carries a soft textural stripe; turn it over and you have a plainer tonal reverse in a quiet percale finish. Percale is a plain, tightly worked cotton weave that feels crisp and cool to the hand and wears smoothly over years of use, which is why it reads so differently from the more relaxed striped face. It comes in two sizes: a 150 x 200cm to lay over a smaller bed and a generous 265 x 265cm to drape over a larger one.

A bedspread like this is the layer you reach for over the top of a made bed, folded at the foot in warmer months or pulled up over the duvet on cooler nights. It suits a bedroom that leans natural and unfussy, and it sits happily with wooden furniture, waffle textures and plain linens. Because both sides are finished to be seen, you can flip it to the plainer reverse for a calmer look or show the stripe when you want a little more pattern.

The whole piece is stonewashed, a finish that softens the cotton from the first day and gives it a lived-in, gently rumpled look rather than a stiff, pressed one. It is quilted, so the layers are held together and the spread keeps its shape when you lift and settle it. Cotton is breathable and easy to launder, and a stonewashed cotton is forgiving of creasing, so it asks little of you. Fold it back over a plain duvet, or let it fall to the floor on the larger size for a softer, looser drape.

Frequently Asked

Is the bedspread the same on both sides?

No. One face has a soft textural stripe and the reverse is a plainer tonal percale, so you can turn it over to change the look of the bed.

What does stonewashed mean for how it feels?

Stonewashing softens the cotton before it reaches you, giving a supple hand and a relaxed, lived-in look rather than a crisp, freshly pressed finish.

What is percale and why does it matter here?

Percale is a plain, closely worked cotton weave that feels smooth and cool to the touch, which is what gives the reverse its calmer character.

Which size should I choose?

The 150 x 200cm suits a smaller bed as a top layer, while the 265 x 265cm is generous enough to drape over a larger bed and fall at the sides.

Can I use it over a duvet?

Yes. A bedspread is designed as a top layer, so you can fold it at the foot of the bed or pull it up over your duvet on cooler nights.

Is it all cotton?

Yes, the face, reverse and filling are all 100% cotton, which makes it breathable, easy to launder and comfortable in most seasons.
