The Haze cushion is a 50 x 50cm square worked in velvet, with a quilted front that catches the light in soft, close-set ripples. The face is stitched into a fine, running texture that runs the width of the cushion, giving a warm brown-to-terracotta face that shifts as you move past it. The reverse is a plain, smooth velvet in the same shade, so it reads as one continuous colour from any angle. Velvet has a directional pile, which is why the colour looks deeper from one side than the other, and the raised stitched lines make the most of that.

This is a cushion for a sofa, a reading chair or the head of a bed, where its texture does the work that a print would do elsewhere.
