Description

Halo is a floor lamp in gunmetal and marble. A slim black stem rising from a low round black marble base, splitting near the top into three black arms that curve out and up like a fountain, each ending in a plain knurled holder carrying a smoked glass globe. The filaments show as warm points through the grey glass, and nothing is shaded, so the lamps are the whole of the ornament. The marble base shows grey and white veining, so no two are the same. The arms spread wide and evenly. It stands on a marble base and carries three flexible arms.

It stands beside a chair or at the end of a sofa, where it puts one pool of light exactly where it is needed without lighting the whole space. That is what a floor lamp is for: it takes the reading light off the ceiling and puts it at shoulder height, so the room can be lit softly and still be worked in. There is an inline foot switch on the flex, so it is reached at the fitting rather than by following the flex down.

The holder is E27 and takes up to 40W each. It plugs into an ordinary socket, so it needs no electrician. It is class II, double insulated, so it needs no earth, and it is rated IP20 for dry indoor rooms.

Which bulb does it take?

An E27 lamp up to 40W. Bulbs are supplied separately so you can choose the brightness and colour you want.

Can it be dimmed?

Yes, on a compatible dimmer, provided the lamp you fit is a dimmable one. The fitting has no dimmer of its own.

Does it need an electrician?

No. It comes on a flex with a moulded plug and goes into an ordinary socket.

Where is the switch?

There is inline foot switch on the flex.

Does it need an earth?

No. It is class II, double insulated, so it is wired live and neutral only.

Can it go in a bathroom?

No. It is IP20, which covers dry interior rooms only. A bathroom needs IP44 or better.
