Description

This GU5.3 LED spotlight bulb gives directional light from a compact AR111 spot housing, drawing 13 W to deliver 950 lumens of 2700K warm white. The 40 degree beam keeps the output focused, so the light lands where it is pointed rather than spilling across the whole room. The GU5.3 cap is a two-pin MR16 fitting, the low-voltage spotlight base familiar to US buyers as the standard MR16 bi-pin. Because it is a low-voltage lamp, it runs on 12 V AC or DC and needs a matching transformer or LED driver rather than connecting straight to the mains. At 13 W it stands in for an old 107 W halogen spot while drawing only the 13 W stated, so the energy saving is considerable.

The focused 40 degree beam suits accent and feature lighting more than flat ambient fill, picking out artwork, shelving, a worktop run or a reading spot. It works well in recessed downlight housings and adjustable track or spot fittings where you want defined pools of light rather than even coverage. The high Ra 97 colour rendering means colours, fabrics and skin tones read accurately under it, which makes it a good choice for display, retail and detailed task areas. As an indoor IP20 lamp it is for dry interior use only, with its suitability for any damp or external position governed by the fitting it sits in, not the bulb itself.

The lamp uses an AR111 light source in a silver finished spot body measuring 111 mm in diameter by 61 mm deep and weighing 150 g. It is fully dimmable, so it can be paired with a compatible low-voltage dimmer and transformer to set the level. Rated at 45,000 hours with an efficiency of 81 lm/W, it is built for long service in frequently used fittings.
